Appeal & Buzz

Appeal of racing equipment

  • No other dinghy is as simple and yet as high tech as a Bladerider Moth.
  • It is possible to do speeds in excess of 15 knots in 5-6 knots of wind and 20 knots of speed in 12-14 knots.
  • High-speed airbourne manouvers are a standard proceedure.

Style of racing

  • Short in course races allow for a close spectator environment.
  • A variety of different courses allow a choice for the race committee to decide depending on wind and waves. Some samples are below:

Suitable wind conditions

  • Boats will fly in 5-6 knots and will not sail slower than 12 knots around the course at anytime.
  • Can easily sail in 20-25 knots as the boat is healed over the windward upwind, it creates positive righting moment.

Buzz

  • Looks spectacular at any wind speed.
  • The hydrofoil Moth has created the same amount as Buzz and interest as when the windsurfer was first introduced.
  • It has also captured the attention of kids as young as 10 years and as old as 65 years old.
