Measurement

One-design or not; strictness

  • The International Moth Class rules are open.
  • The Bladerider Moth can be sailed as an open class, or as strict one design.

Measurement at Championships

  • Length, beam and sail area are all required at Moth Class Championships.
  • Additional measurement at Championships for one-design Bladerider can include hull weight, foil shape/size, sail dimensions and fixed mast length/width.

Time to measure a boat; tools requires

  • Approximately 5-10 minutes including sail.
  • Jig required to measure hull width and length.
  • Jig required to measure mast width and length (if required).
  • Jig required to measure foil length, width and chord shape (if required).
  • Scales to measure hull weight (if required).

Opportunity to vary equipment within rules

  • Front hydrofoil angle of attack.
  • Front hydrofoil mechanisms and gearing.
  • Sail control purchase system.
  • Batten stiffness.
  • Wand stiffness and length.
